Ruapehu College... local tender for upgrading accepted
TTpproval has been given to accept the lowest tender received for upgrading work at Ruapehu College. This was announced by Hon J.B. Bolger, Member for King Country following advice received from the Minister of Education, Mr Wellington. The work involves the upgrading and refurbishing of the administration area to provide sufficient accommodation to meet the needs of the school. In addition, the home economics suite,
which is outmoded, will be upgraded to meet latest standards and improvements to the boiler system and boiler house will be made. The successful tenderer is Horne Brothers who submitted the lowest cf three tenders received. The total cost is expected to be in the vicinity of $437,359. Mr Bolger said, that although there had recently been major expenditure at Ruapehu College on the construction of a new senior
studies block and gymnasium, very little upgrading work has been carried out on the original teaching/ administration block since it was built in 1953. "Upgrading these older facilities will improve conditions at the college, and the news that a local tender for this work has been accepted is welcome," he said.
