Raetihi Christmas Carnival

Raetihi's annual Christmas Carnival will take place in the town on Friday 23 December. There will be a fancy dress and bike parade through the town commencing outside the bank at 10. a.m. Judging will take place on the Town Green where a number of prizes will be awarded. Father Christmas will arrive and distribute lollies, ice blocks and balloons. At 2pm Seigfried Bauer the world long distance running champion will be greeted by the Mayor Garry Workman who will make a presentation to Seigfried on behalf of the residents of the Waimarino. Everyone is welcome. Following the presentation, disco dancing competitions will take place

between 2.30 and 4pm on a special dancing platform on the Town Green. There will be various heats and finals with judging being carried out by the crew from Mirage Films who will soon be filming on the Pipiriki Road. There will be a 50 cent entry fee for the disco competition which should finish around 4pm. At 5pm there will be free movies screened for children at the picture theatre. Raetihi retailers are having late nights on Tuesday 20 until 8.30pm and Friday 23 until 9pm. At various hours on Tuesday evening and throughout Friday, announcements of lucky numbers will be broadcast in the shopping area. The numbers

correspond with those printed on page 14 of last week's edition of the Bulletin. Each person present when their lucky number is announced will receive a $25 prize. Also running in Raetihi is a Baby Photo Contest. Various shops have baby photos displayed and these have to be matched up with the names in the entry form in last week's Bulletin. Completed entry forms for the baby photo competition should be handed in to Vanity Fair, Seddon Street before 6pm on Thursday night. On the afternoon of Thursday 22 the town baths will open and prize vouchers will be distributed to children at the baths.
