Parapara bus service to resume ...but with a difference
The Wanganui-Raetihi-Ohakune passenger bus service which ceased when Ruapehu Coachlines withdrew from the route earlier this year, is due to be re-introduced by another operator who intends putting a 12-seater mini-bus on the run soon. •fe is Mr John Gower mmond who was granted a passenger vehicle licence and the right to tow a trailer and carry parcels by the Transport Licensing Auth-
ority last month. Unlike the Ruapehu Coachline Service however, which started its journey in the Waimarino, the new service operates from Wanganui and travels in the opposite direction. The new service will operate five days a week leaving Wanganui at 8.30am for the Waimarino. For the return journey the bus will leave Ohakune at 12.15 and Raetihi at 12.30 to arrive back in Wanganui at 2pm.
Mr Hammond said last week that the service will probably start operating about the middle of this month when the new minibus is ready. For Waimarino parents who have children at boarding scliools in Wanganui a special service is being provided on Friday and Sunday evenings to transport students home for the weekend. The bus will leave Wanganui on Friday afternoon at 3.30 and return on Sunday evening.
