First fundraising appeal nets $500 for NZ Kidney Foundation

The Waimarino Arts and Crafts Society raised $500 for the NZ Kidney Foundation in an Ohakune street appeal on Thursday 3 November. A fund-raising stall selling craftwork, cakes, clothing, preserves and soft toys was set up outside the Ohakune theatre in Goldfinch Street

and a brisk trade was conducted by half a dozen members of the 10-member strong Arts and Crafts Society. The Society has been in operation for the past ten years but this is their first fundraising effort on behalf

of a nationwide cause and they are well pleased with the results. The Society intends conducting other fundraising appeals selling items produced by members, but are as yet uncertain about details.
