Boys Brigade to hold summer camp in Ohakune

Ohakune will see a rapid rise in its young male population two days after Christmas through to the New Year. The Boys Brigade's 100th year summer camp will be held on Mangawhero Domain. About 220 boys from all parts of the country aged seven or eight to late teens — will be 'camping out' for eight days. Their outdoor programme includes archery. swimming, bushwalks, gliding, a trip to the Army museum at Waiouru and a grazing farm. Ohakune's public relations officer. Wayne Dashfield. has organised a video on the history of the area, a barbecue and sing-a-long evening at I.akes Road, and a jet boat ride down the Wanganui River. Mr Dashfield is al.^j organising an air-drop of supplies for the senior boys' two-day expedition. Every year the Boys Brigade hold their summer camp in a different place throughout the country. Ohakunes outdoor amenities and recreational facilities make it an ideal setting for this year's camp. said Mr Dashfield.
