The following cases were heard by Judge E.W. Unwin in the ' Ohakune District Court on Thursday 10 November. Bradley Bowring, 19, labourer of Raetihi was sent to prison for 6 months when he appeared for resentencing on two burglary convictions. He had breached the probation and periodic detention requirements set after the burglaries which had occurred earlier this year. Judge Unwin said it was apparent Bowring had not responded to the probation and periodic detention conditions imposed and had not taken the opportunity given to him. On the burglary charges he was re-sentenced to 6 months imprisonment followed by 12 months

probation and ordered to pay $500 compensation for the burglary within a year. For breach of probation he was sentenced to one month in prison, and for breach of periodic detention one month in prison, both sentences to be served concurrently with the 6 month term. ★ ★ ★ Francis Bristol, 21, driver of Ohakune appeared for sentence on two convictions for burglary at Raetihi on 4 August and 1 1 September. He was put on 12 months probation, disqualified from driving for 6 months and ordered to pay $ 1 50 towards the cost of the prosecution. ★ ★ ★ Graham Alan Snowball, 23,. trapper of Ohakune, appeared for sentence on a conviction of burglary at Raetihi on 1 1 September.

He was fined $400, court costs $20 and disqualified from driving for 6 months. ★ ★ ★ Three Ohakune men and one from Karioi appeared on charges of intentional damage related to incidents on 13 August. Christopher John Hancock, 17, formerly a ski mechanic of Ohakune, Ronald Thomas HamiltonLow, 17, forest labourer of Ohakune, Andrew Robert Foubister, 20, millhand of Ohakuane and Darrell Shaun McLeod, 20, market gardener of Karioi were all convicted. Hancock, Hamilton-Low and McLeod were each fined $130, court costs $20 for causing damage to a BMW car. Foubister and McLeod weYe each fined $125, court costs $20 and ordered to pay compensation of $ 1 20 for damage to a plate glass window. Phillip Jerry Hiroti,^^ shearer of Raetihi, was convicted and given a suspended sentence of two years on seven charges of entering the Raetihi Hotel where he had been banned during October. He was ordered to pay $25 towards the prosecution costs on each charge. ★ ★ ★ Robert Kingsford Ward, builder of Auckland admitted a charge of careless driving at Makatote on 4 September when he crossed the centre line and collided head-on with another car. He was fined $175 with court costs of $20. ★ ★ ★ Jflk Murray Anthony Mo^Jf, 21, soldier of Waiouru, admitted one charge of dangerous driving and one charge of driving while disqualified, both offences occurring at Waiouru on 1 September. Francis Waara denied the charge of unlawful possession and killing of four native pigeons.on 22 Julv at National Park. He was remanded for a defended hearing. Donald James Wikitera, ^Hrged with the same ^Wence failed to appear and offered no plea. He was remanded for formal proof. ★ ★ ★ Graeme David Berry, 25, soldier of Waiouru, admitted a charge of driving with a blood alcohol level of 170/100 at Waiouru on 23 September. He was convicted and fined $325, court costs $20, ordered to pay DSIR fees of $32, medical fees of $25 and disqualified from driving for 8 months. ★ ★ ★ Avery George Dash, 37, unemployed of Raetihi, was remanded without plea to 8 December when he appeared on a charge of possession of cannabis on 7 November. Bail was set at $500. ★ ★ ★ R.L. Albert Ltd, builder, was convicted and fined on three charges of tax evasion. The company was fined $100, costs $20, on each charge. Solicitors fees totalling $100 were ordered.
