Supermarket wins awards

- Ohakune 's 'New World' supermarket has won two awards in the lower half of the North Island's "New World Supermarket of the Year Awards" announced ten days ago. These awards are divided into two categories of supermarket — the large city supermarkets and the small-to-medium sized provincial and country town supermarkets. Ohakune's New World supermarket, which has been in operation for 4 years and employs a permanent staff of 12 full-time and part time assistants, was one of 38 New World supermarkets eligible for the awards in the lower half of the North Island. Judging is done by regional head office staff who travel round the various branches throughout the year assessing . such qualities as external apjjearance of the building, ^Bterior layOut and display,

eustomer service, staffing and cleanliness. Ohakune's New World won the award for the best small-to-medium sized supermarket in the lower half of the North Island as well as for the most improved supermarket since

the survey was last carried out two years ago. Normally held annually these awards were not presented last year because of other majorcommitments. Manager Alan Murdie travelled to Wanganui to receive the awards.
