Family day being planned

A great family outing day is being planned for everyone in the Waimarino district by the Raetihi Skating Rink committee. To be held on Sunday 1 1 December the programme will include a varied range of activities that should attract a wide cross-section of family ages and interests. Still in its early planning stages the family day programme will be based on the skating rink activities. "But between now and the day itself, it is hoped to get a number of other groups and organisations involved in providing a range of alternative activities on the adjacent recreation ground", said Mrs Pat Hansen of the Raetihi Skating Rink committee.

Among the ltems planned for the rink are skating and daficing competitions, novelty events and lucky spot prizes ... all in various age categories. Prizes will be awarded to boys and girls aged 3-6 years of age, 7-11, 12-15, 16-21, as well as adults and veterans. The usual stalls and a hangi are also being planned. Mrs Hansen hopes to get the neighbouring Squash Club and Raetihi Football Club as well as other sports groups and organisations to contribute ideas and activities to extend the range of events that will appeal to local families ... everyone in the Waima^Hf is invited!
