...and the walls came tumbling down
Andreas Hefti, founder of the International Sports School for Skiing and Tennis, has offered . to 'organise' activities. As well as coordinating use of the courts he will arrange matches and competitions. Recently it was announced that the AHI Turoa courts were to be locked and that a charge of $2.00 per hour per court was to be levied on their use. During normal office hours the key is available from the AHI Turoa office but outside these hours the club will be able to use the courts at a discounted rate for club members. In recent years a small group of local people have gi-ven much time and effort tow'ards the upgrading of the original club courts ^■hind the swimming baths. ^cecause of cost, onlv first aid treatment could be gi ven and while the courts were brought up to a reasonable condition the surface has since deteriorated and acts of vandalism have reduced
them to an unsatisfactory condition. _ .. Use of the new AHI Turoa courts removes the need for further spending. Hence the need for fundraising, working bees etc. is now removed and club members will have more time for tennis. From being in recess for the last two seasons the Ohakune Tennis Club anticipates renewed activity this year due to two factors permission to use the
AHI Turoa Courts and the services of a professional 'organiser'. An AGM is to be held on 10 November in the TASCI Club rooms on the corner of Miro and Shannon Streets to elect a committee for 1983/84. All players are invited to attend so they can register their interest and contribute towards the programme for the season. Further information can be obtained from Andreas Hefti.
