Historic ceremony re-enacted

After a damp and windy welcpme toThe Waimarino last Saturday evening, Sunday morning dawned sunny and warm for the 700 people who had come to Ohakune for the 75th anniversary of the opening of the North Island Main Trunk railway line. Among the local people who boarded the 18-carriage train of restored railway carriages at Ohakune were a number of specially invited guests. These included the mayor of Ohakune Bill Taylor, the mayor of Raetihi Garrick Workman, the chairman of Waimarino County Bruce Berry and the commapder of the ATG in Waiouru Colonel Bruce Meldrum. A fuller account will appear in next week 's edition of the Bulletin.
