Waimarino Museum Society

The Annual General meeting of the Waimarino Museum Society was held in . the Fresbyterian Hall. Raetihi on 3 October. In her report, the President, Mrs M.J. Brown, said that the Official Opening of the Museum on 4 December 1982, was the •t important event of the . Since then more than 600 people have signed the visitor's book and $624 had been received.in donations. Four hundred copies of the society's booklet, "Some Early History of the

Waimarino" have been sold and copies have been requested by many universities and libraries. Some interesting old photographs and artifacts have been received during the year. Officers elected were as follows: Patron, Mr C. leF. Honore;' President, Mr J.F. Sommerville; 1 ice-president, Mr I. Fenny; Secretary, Mrs M.E. Sommerville; Treasurer, Mrs D. McNie; Committee, Mesdames M.J. B'rown, E. Allen, G. Irwin, L. Keith, M. George, R. Harris. Messrs C. Fred-

ricksen, G. Voelkerling, C. Maru. The speaker, Mrs M. George, outlined some early history of Maori settlement in the Karioi-Ohakune area and displayed early survey maps. The museum is open every Sunday afternoon and will be opened on request by contacting J.F. Sommerville or Mrs M.J. Brown.
