Derailment
A Railway work gang from Ohakune travelled to Mataroa, north of Taihape, the weekend before last to help repair 8km of track damaged when two wagons were derailed at about 1 1.30 on Saturday night. Passengers on the overnight Northener train service had to be transported by Road Services bus between Taihape and Taumarunui. The track was repaired and cleared late on Sunday afternoon.
