Round the Mountain Relay Run

Next Saturday 1 5 October more than 400 relay runners will be seen pounding round the central plateau in the annual 100 mile 'Round the Mountain' event. More than 40 teams of 10 runners will each cover a distance of 10 miles. Their route will take them from Waiouru, up the Desert Road to the Rangipo Junction with SH47, past Lake Rotoaira to the road junction north of the Porere Redoubt, down to National Fark, then on to SH4 until they reach the Tohunga Road (SH49A) into Ohakune and then through Rangataua, Karioi, Tangiwai and back to Waiouru. The first runners are expected to reach Waiouru about 4pm.
