Christmas stamp issue on sale tomorrow
New Zealand's set of 1983 Christmas postage stamps will be on sale tomorrow. The three stamps — in denominations of 18 cents, 35 cents and 45 cents — are from different sources. The 18 cent stamp features a painting by 15th century artist Raphael entitled: "The Holy Family of the Oak Tree". The original hangs in the Frado Museum, in Spain's capital, Madrid .
The 35 cent stamp depicts an illustration of St Fatricks Church in Greymouth by graphic artist Michael Wyatt of Queenstown. The 45 cent stamp features a symbolic design combining the Southern Cross with the Star of Bethlehem and was designed by R.M. Conly of Waikanae. The stamps have been printed in Switzerland by Courvoisier S.A using the photogravure process.
