Defensive Driving course popular

Graeme Cole, Ohakune's traffic officer, reports a very good response to the current series of Defensive Driving lectures which are being held at the Ohakune Frimary School Hall on Tuesday evenings. A total of 30 people from all around the Waimarino including 5 from

National Fark and 2 from Waiouru with equal numbers from Raetihi and Ohakune — are attending the four-week course. Only eight of those attending have been directed to undertake the course by the District Court ... all the others are doing so through choice. The course is being - conducted by MOT Road Traffic Instructor, Val Gordon, from Wanganui.

Graeme Cole said last week that he had applied to take the Defensive Driving 1 nstructors course so that he could conduct these lectures himself and'more frequently in response to local demand. Coming from a background as a motor mechanic he feels that, with his experience as a MOT traffic officer, he could also 'field' most of the technical questions as well as the legal ones.
