Numbers up despite season

According to Tony Wright, Manager for Turoa ' Skifields, the August September school holiday period was 'satisfactory' with numbers 'fractionallv down' on last year. But in view of the generally uneven conditions this year this small drop didn't come as a surprise and overall the numbers are 2% up for the season so far. This is probably because Turoa picked up a lot of skiers from the Whakapapa side as well as day trippers tffcn Turangi, he said. ^Wlanv skiers travelled south this year where snow

conditions were better — Coronet Peak had its best season in 5 years. "But hopefully they will be back at Turoa next year" said Tony Wright.
