Jet boat marathon includes Wanganui River

Next S a turda y . 17 September, will see the spectacle of 74 jet boats racirig down the Wanganui River from Taumarunui to Wanganui. The race starts at 10.00am and the fastest boats are expected to eover the disfance in a little over two hours. The 74 boats are competing in four different classes for the 6th World Champion-

ship Jet Boat Marathon. They are racing on 1 1 different river courses totalling 1145 kms - in New Zealand and the Wangar^^ River is the last and lon^^gT -242 kms - in the North Islamr Waimarino spectators will have a choice of several vantage points along the river but perhaps the best of these will be from Pipiriki.
