Casino 'Nite' Success
The Turoa Tumblers 'Casino Las Vegas Nite' was sa successful that it raised $1400 towards the travelling and equipment expenses of the
Waimarino's promising young gymnasts. More than 120 'gamblers' passed through the doors of the Ohakune Club on Saturday (13 August) after paying $10 each for their evening's entertainment, supper and quota of gambling chips, When each 'gamblers' allocation of chips ran out they could purchase more to satisfy their craving for roulette, or whatever ... even slater racing! One such 'addict' is understood to have won $10 million during the evening and, at the end of the function, successfully bid that amount for a set of entree dishes which were being auctioned to clear up the surplus liquidity problem! Turoa Tumblers wish to thank all those who participated in this fund-raising activity, whether as croupiers, providers of food, background workers or merely as 'gamblers' who supported the evening's activities with their generous wagers of token money.
