Raetihi boys on Skracha board

Skracha, the Dachshundshaped comb being marketed by Wanganui Boys College, is now available in the Waimarino. Two of the eight boys, college students who form the Skracha Enterprises, are ex-Raetihi school pupils. They are Murray Scarrow, Finance Director and Rodney Journeaux, Managing Director. The boys formed the company to market the Skracha Comb under the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce Youth Enterprise Scheme. The scheme gives the students both theoretical and practical experience in the business world. The Company is incorporated and has a capital of $2,000. This was subscribed by the eight directors and supporters. It must pay salaries, wages and a 45% company tax. When it is wound up on 30 October, it will pay investments to its shareholders together with operating and liquidation dividends. It will also prepare an

Annual Report to be presented to the Wanganui Chamber of Commerce. Two advisers to the Company have been Mr Brian Balshaw from the Chamber of Commerce, and the Boys College Economics teacher Mr R. Alsop. The Skracha Enterprises board comprises Managing Director Rodney Journeaux, Secretary Russell Neal, Marketing Director Rhys Evans, Finance Director Murray Scarrow, Manufacturing Director John Cuthbertson, Personal Director Stephen Foster, Finance Assistant

Warwick Downing and Manufacturing Assistant Robert Miller. At present the combs are available in four colours; red, blue, green and yellow. Because there is a demand for black the next batch of combs will include black ones. The combs and the mould from which they are produced, were made by Oskam Industries, of Wanganui. The boys made stand^W display the combs, they have had offers to buy the stands. Perhaps the stands could be their enterprise next year.
