Raetihi spared extra traffic

There would be no significant increase in the number of car transporters Kng the Parapara Road tween Raetihi and Wanganui, said Mr Charles Lacy of Car Haulaways,

from Paekakariki last week. This assurance was given following publicity about a apparent departmental blunder which had inadvertently redirected all Car Haulaway traffic through the Paraparas (S.H.4) instead of on State Highway one through Mangaweka, when an application was made to the No.2 Transport Licensing Authority. This was a temporary misunderstanding which has since been cleared up . . only vehicles headed for the Wanganui dealers, and new cars from the Suzuki plant in Wanganui, will continue to use the Parapara Road. Other vehicles headed to and from the Wellington/ Lower Hutt dealers and markets would use the existing S.H.l route and not pass through Raetihi.
