Opening of new Veterinary Clinic
Over seventy farmers and residents attended the opening of the new veterinary clinic in Raetihi last week. Local M.P. Mr Jim Bolger performed the official ceremony by literally 'cutting the ribbon', welcoming visitors and guests and highlighting various aspects of government policy on agriculture and labour. Situated on the corner of Seddon and Duncan Streets in Raetihi, the new clinic incorporates the latest in veterinary equipment and design. In addition to operating and medical facilities, there is an area set aside for post operative care. Opening 5 days a week and with service available on alternate weekends, the clinic is operated by Taihape Veterinary Services. Until now, a veterinarian from Taihape came through to the ^fcimarino 3 days a week. ^Puside these days, animals had to be taken to Taihape or vets called out to properties at considerable cost. Growth of demand in the district necessitated the
move to provide the clinic and a resident vet, said Graeme Joyce, senior partner in the practice. "Forty per cent of our work is done inside so this facility is absolutely necessary" said Mr Joyce at the opening function. "We're fully equipped for small animal operations and will now be able to supply the service that people want." Resident partner is David Seifert assisted by recep-tionist-nurse Kay Avery.
