Letters to Editor

Waimarino Hospital In your report of the Raetihi Mayor's Report to his Council on a deputation which met recently with the Chief Executive and myself, reference is made to an "unconditional guarantee" g'iven that the present standard of Health Services would be maintained. While I have every con.fidence that such will be the case this can be guaranteed only by eternal vigilance. 1 must underline that while a • rd member is able to assurances as to the past and present he is quite unable to commit his Board, much less a new Board, to the future.

Overbridge . As a concerned parent of Ohakune I would like to see something done about the overhead railway bridge at the beginning of the Mountain Road. It is a danger to the people going up or down the mountain and to children riding bikes to get to their homes in Railway Row. One accident has already occurred at this point in the road. Luckily no injuries resulted, but are we going to wait until someone is killed before something is done? I say no!
