Ruapehu College

Rugby The College hosted a Central Queensland Under17 Rugby Team over the weekend of July 1st, 2nd and 3rd. The boys were billeted for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights and left on Monday morning to play their final game against Otorohanga College before departing for AuStralia on the Tuesday. Other games played were against Pukekohe High School, Mercury Bay Area School and Waihi College, losing only to Pukekohe High School. Their game against Ruapehu College was fast and exeitirig and a grand display of rugby. The College is grateful to those who took billets. Basketball Last Sunday 6 boys in the College Basketball te^m travelled to Wanganui to take part in a play-off to secure a place in the Regional tournament to be held in Stratford over the weekend of 23 - 24 July. The College was in the lead 18-12 at halftime. However

Otaki College took the lead 30-26. With 5 minutes remaining, Ruapehu took control and ended up winners 38-30. Top scorer for the day was Vaughn Taylor. Hockey Team to play King Country at Taumarunui on Sunday July 17th at 1.30pm — Lyn Fetzer, Enid Windle, Wendy Palmer, Michelle Marfell, Rowan West, Denise Berrett, Jill Evans, Janine Dillon, Mary McCarthy, Wendy Ward, Joy Hays, Vicki Stuart, Raewyn Johnson, Kay Cranston. Unavailable: Karen Cranston. At an Association meeting held at Taihape on Wednesday July 6th it was decided not send a team to National Tournament in Whangarei in August.
