SPORTS SCHOOL OPENS
Andreas Hefti has achieved a long held ambition to combine his two major recreational interests — tennis and skiing — in a yearround business venture. He has done this by forming the Turoa International Ski and Tennis Sports School in Ohakune. He first came to live in Ohakune in 1978 when he was appointed Turoa Skifield's mountain manager. He then became Alpine Director of the New Zealand Ski Association and has occupied that position for the past three seasons. He has now relinquished his commitment to the N.Z.S.A. to give his full-time attention to this new venture. Andreas, who came originally from Switzerland, was a coach of the Swiss Olympic Ski team for fifteen years. During the
summer months he coached tennis. The Turoa International Sports School offers top level skiing and tennis coaching with language training in French and German thrown in for good measure. The foreign language instruction and conversation will be included with the various skiing, tennis and fitness-programme options but they can be taken separately by arrangement. There are several course options both for tennis and skiing ranging from 2 weeks to 4 months but there are also special courses offering private and group lessons. In addition to the main skiing and tennis activities Andreas Hefti will also organise other outdoor pursuits such as golf, trout fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, canoeing, jet boat touring, flight-seeing and trekking for visitors t^ the Waimarino who mig^fl not be aware of the Centrrm North Island's many alternative attractions.
