Great interest will be shown this year with a $100,000 bonus being offered to any 3 year old horse that wins all three of the following events. August 27th will see the Wanganui Breeders Stakes run as the first leg of this unique treble, with the second leg being the Okawa Paramount

Guineas to be run at Hastings on September 21st. The final leg on October 15 th will be the Wellington Guineas run at Trentham. The series is to be known as the "$100,000 Three Year Old Triple Crown". Imagine the excitement at Trentham if a horse has already won the first two events. One who could win a race at short notice is the Wanganui trained, Smart Kiwi. Trainer Marshment has a nice polish on this gelding and he is expected to pay his winter oats bill very soon. Another 3 year old who will appreciate his first reasonable barrier draw is Beaver Boy from

Stratford. This colt is by Valuta from Beaus Dream, so lacks nothing in breeding. He will go well in heavy going too. It was about this time last year that Ancestor struck good form and the 6 year old from Hawera has been getting through a lot of good work recently.
