Junior Soccer

A round robin Junior League soccer tournament at Taumarunui on Queen's Birthday weekend saw teams from Ohakune, Taumarunui, Turangi and Raetihi taking part. The purpose of the tournament was to select a training squad to represent the Tongariro Association at the National under - 12's competition to be held at Levin in August. Although the Ohakune Juniors did not manage to win any of their three matches, they were rewarded by having three team members chosen for the training squad. These players are Anthony Callaghan, Reagan Sue and Corban Tumataroa. The Tongariro Association hopes to have at least two curtain raiser games played by the boys before they attend the National competition.
