Raetihi C.W.I. News

On the first Thursday of every month since 1934 members of the Raetihi Country Women' s Institute have met to share ideas, learn new skills and make friendships. On Thursday, June 2nd, Mrs Molly Sommerville, the President, welcomed Rev. K. Enright as the guest

speaker. He illustrated an informative talk on the lifestyle of the people of Thailand with excellent slides taken during a visit of 3 months in 1980. Special interest was shown in rice growing, housing, religion and refugee camps. In answer to the Roll Call members shared memories of smells both pleasant and unsavoury. Fifty peggy squares were brought to be made into a rug for Ozanam House. Mrs G. Irwin knitted the neatest three. _ Motto for the month was 'Kindness is the best habit of all'. Mesdames J. Tod and E. Bowater displayed the best flowers and Mrs S. Williams made the best carrot cake.
