Principal writes to Minister of Police
Following a number of recent break-ins and deliberate acts of van^^lism, Raetihi Primary ^Bhool principal Ken Holmes has written a strong letter to the Minister of Police on behalf of his staff and students. Last week the school was again broken into, windows were smashed and other acts of overnight vandalism perpetrated. In his letter Mr Holmes pointed out that the school was the target of constant
interference and vandalism. This was having a depressing effect on both his staff and students when they arrive in the classrooms in the morning to find windows broken and evidence of wilful damage done during the night. Mr Holmes stressed that he was not being critical of local Waimarino constables — they were doing a great job within their means — but the fact of the matter was that Raetihi was understaffed with only one resident policeman to provide a service to the whole town.
