WAIOURU PRIMARY SCHOOL
Staff changes: At the end of Term One we Iost four teachers. Mr Lin Ray retired; Mrs Campbell moved to Auckland; Mrs Hogg transferred to Cambridge East and Miss MacKenzie is now relieving at Feilding Intermediate. Mrs D Boulton has been appointed a Senior Teacher to replace Mr Ray. Mrs C Connell, nee Mullins, has been appointed to a permanent position. School Council: The first full meeting of our newly elected School Council was held last week. Accounts totalling $4014.30
were passed for payment. The Multi-Purpose Room is being very well used by classes for films, music, physical education, folk dancing and meetings. Some walk-in storage cupboards are soon to be built. Council has set Friday, July 8 for the mid-term break and parents should note that the teachers will have a Teachers Only Day In-Service Course on Monday, July 1 1 so there will be no need for children to attend school that day. (Ruapehu College will be closed on July 8, 11 for their mid-term break.)
Early and late arrivals: Some children are arriving much too early on these cold and wintry mornings. Supervision does not commence until 8.30am and some of the children are a distraction to teachers who are preparing work. Many children are arriving late and parents are asked to ensure that their children are able to arrive at school before 8.55am. Problem dog owners: Dogs are not allowed in the school grounds! Teachers, children and our caretaker are complaining about the mess and nuisance caused by dogs.
