Message from Mayor of Ohakune
Community and communication are, of course, virtually synonymous. In general terms a community is only as strong as its lines of communication. Few things bind a district more cohesively than the service provided by a community newspaper. Few things that are published are read as avidly, awaited as eagerly. Why? Quite simply because wl ttflk written reflects us; ouflBKrests, our activities, our exchanges of goods or ideas, our successes and failures and our bones of contention. I have a feeling that, from this seed planted today in this first edition of the Waimarino Bulletin will grow a strong plant. I know a little of the efforts that have gone into its establishment. As a writer I know well the battles that lie ahead for the publication in keeping its head above the economic tide-mark that marks the difference between success and failure. It is important that the Wti^nno Bulletin enjoys ti--®yport °f us all; the rea^Bf the advertisers, the commfnity. And, from the community, a warm welcome to the Bulletin. Best wishes for your success.
