What is news?
News has been defined in various dictionaries as: "a report of a recent event"; or as "new information about something previously unknown. to the general public". It is all that and more. For us at the Bulletin it can also mean news of some forthcoming event in the near or distant future or it can be old information about some past event not known to the current readership. We hope to bring you all these forms of 'news' at various times but since we do not create the news ourselves we have to rely on
you to tell us about it. So if you have any knowledge about some forthcoming event or information about people and places associated with some historical event in the Waimarino, please let us know about it and we will follow it up. We hope to include fairly regular itemS of news and information under such general headings as: Business, Commercial and Farming news. School news, Education. Church news, Religion. Gardening and Landscaping advice. Weather Food and Catering, Recipes. Arts and Crafts, Exhibitions. Entertainment, Dining Out. Sport and Recreatiom Social news - Births, Weddings, Functions. Health and Family. Travel and Accommodation. Handyman Hints and Hobbies. Historical v- People and Events. Childrens Page. Police File/Court File. Profiles of local residents and visitors. News of forthcoming events. Letters to the Editor. But of course these will not all appear each week for we depend on receiving the news before we can report it. We publish the list merely to show the wide range of topics we hope to cover and we invite you to contribute any item of news or information you have which might be included under these broad headings.
