E Taylor has retired from the contest for Manukau, leaving the fight to Messrs Buokland and O’.Rorke. Mr A. H. Alason received a vote of confidence at Maungakaramea. No amendment was moved. Mr J. M. Shera announces his candidature for Auckland City. Mr John Press, a settler residing in the Kawakawa district, and late member of the Bay of Island County Council, has decided to contest the Bay of Islands seat. He was formerly a resident on. the Northern Wairoa, and always took a lively interest in politics.
