The elections of County Councillors in this district have now been completed, and the new Council consists of Messrs A. E. Harding, T. Bassett and H. J, Slade, who were also members of the o d Council, and Messrs F. F, Day. E, Hard ing, B. C. New and A. Roge-s new members. The first meeting of the new Council will take place on Wednesday, 25th instant. For the Dargaville riding Messrs E. Harding and A. Rogers were elected unopposed For the Okahu riding Mr B. C, New was the only"candidate In the Waiioa Riding there was no response to the first cull for nominations,

and it was then thought that "’Mr "Slade had positively declined to again accjpt_ the position of representative* The Tangihua settlers, at the second call, nominated Mr J. L. Clarke, a capable and practical man living at the extreme end of the Riding, but by this t rne Mr Slade had also been persuaded to again take up the duties, and both nominations were recorded. Mr Clarke gladly retired in favour of Mr Slade and the latter was thus re-elected unopposed. In the Aratapu Riding there was a keen contest, and some little excitement. The polling places were at Aratapu, Mangawhare and Opanaki and the results were as below .

The resul was received with enthusiasm at Mangawhare. but not so at Aratapu where it was first thought that the lead given to the two local men had ensured their election. At Te Kopuru the result was pretty well guaged beforehand, and, as expected, Mr T, Bassett was elected by a considerable majority. The voting at Te Kopuru was T, Bassett 49, and S. WebD 31. The Titinui returns increased Mr Bassett’s total,
