The Wairoa Bell AND Hobson County Gazette FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 2 3 rd.
The printed list of Appropriations for I übuc Works services for year ending March 31st 1895 is now to hand and the amounts for expenditure within our neighbourhood are—Addition to Kaihu Valley Railway £l5O ; Miscellaneous roads and bridges,—Mititai-Tokatoka £l5O ; Aratapu—Tatarariki £l5O ; Tokatoka Post Office £2OO ; Tang-ihua £3OO : Alain roads, Dargaville-Tangiteroria £7OO • Police station—Aratapu £3OO : and under The Lands Improvement account, Roads and bridges wo have—Dargaville-Aratapu £2OO. This latter amount has not previously been mentioned m the accounts received from Wellington. At the meethc convened by Mr J. M, Dargaville in the Aratapu hotel sample room that gentleman evidently spoke without sufficient information when he said that the Hobson Count was only to receive £7OO, and that for the Dargaville Riding only, “ Aratapu was to receive nothing ; Kopurn nothing Okahu nothing.” Looking at the votes before us it turns out that each of timeridings is to get something. The County Chairman at that meeting questioned the correctness of Air Dargaville’s information and this was resented by the convener, but the fact is now revealed that the County Chairman was more correct in his surmise than Air Dargaville in his “ official telegram from a government department.” Although the two items Alititai-Tokatoka £l5O, and AratapuTatarariki £l5O have been named in The Waikoa Eeld and other papers we p aTe seen no mention of them in Mr Dargaville’s paper ; lie is a little backward in informing the public that his “ official telegram from a government department ” was at least £SOO out.
