ORIGINAL POETRY.

A XMAS HYMN. Another year has passed away, And we are spared to see • A blithe and happy Xmas day In good old ninety three. Nigh nineteen hundred years ago Christ Jesus came to earth, And for us pilgrims here below He died to give us birth. Then let us each, like Santa Claus, With Christmas greetings bring An offering to that holy cause Of which our Christ is King. Like the vain poppies in their beds We must not strive to be, But like fthe violets bow our heads In sweet humility. And when another year glides past May we be found to roam The narrow path which leads at last To our eternal home, —G.E. Aratapu, 21/12/93.
