The Ar.ata.pu and Tatarariki first- elevens met at Aratapu last. Saturday in Mr Morgan’s paddock. The game opened very peculiarly and disastrously for Aratupu. T. Nie! d faced the. bowling of Mil lor who began with two no balls. The second no ball took Mr Nield’s wicket and the next hall (the first, of the over)'did the same, and the batsman retired bonded, twice in two halls.. Lee a Yd French were butli clean bowled by Miller in th '■ :-;i.ine over. Slater seemed at home till he ran himself out, and 0. Nield played well for his 8 not out, but 118 balls closed the iu-. nings. T. Bassett and W. Smith opened the batting for Tatarariki and played very cautiously ; sixteen overs were bowled and then French took Bassett, the score then standing- at 11 runs. E. Bassett and C. Molloy tell to French’s next two balls and the hat was passed r< und iu acknowledgement of the bat trick. Smith continued to plav very carefully and was not .disposed of till he had made 15 runs. The innings closed for 38 mu a and gave Tatarariki a win on the first innings by six runs. A Lee deserves a word of praise for his work at long-stop, there being no extras Bice also shaped very- well behind the wickets. The following are the scores : AHA TAP D C.C. Ist Innings 2nd Innings.
