PAPAROA
[FROM OCR OWN correspondent]
We have during' {ho past week been favored with a visit from the Rev. t J. Serpeil, of Grrafton Road, Auckland, who, as a dep it a tor on behalf of the Wesleyan Home Mission Fund, preached a somewhat remarkable sermon in the Wesleyan Chapel on Sunday evening, Nov sth, to a large congregation. Mr Serpeil has, during his visit, delivered two excellent, lectures on 4 The most wonderful Book in the Work!, 3 and 4 Bush Rife in Australia, which were much enjoyed. In company with the circuit minister (Rev. J, J. Mather) the delegate has also visited seveial other districts in the Circuit. Mr Serpeil has a novel style of delivery, and bis remarks have often the effect of causing’ a smile to ripple over the faces of the congregation. Some dissatisfaction is expressed that no election has taken place for the office of County Councill >r for this Riding. W e certainly want as a representative in the Council a man with some 4 backbone, and, with all due respect to the member, vee fear he is lacking in that needful quality The Wesleyan Church anniversary has beeD fixed for Sunday and Monday, Novem - ber 19th and 20th.
