POLICE COURT, ARATAPU.
TUESDAY. (Before Mr T. Webb, J.P.) Frederick Waters, a gumdigger, was charged by G«pst. Scett with being drunk and disorderly at Aratapn on 17th inst. Prisoner pleaded guilty. He was then further charged with using obscene language on the 17fch inst Prisoner pleaded that he knew nothing about it. Mrs W. Davies testified that prisoner came on to her land about dark on the day named. He was drunk, and used bad language when asked what be wanted. He threatened to kill witness repeatedly and she sent for the police. Mary Davies, daughter of last witness, corroborated the evidence given by her mother. Constable Scott, was called for by the last witness and found Mrs Davies in a great state of alarm and excitement. He looked for prisoner and heard him at Cobbald’s having an altercation and Mr Cobbald was putting him out. Prisoner fell into a ditch and heai rested him. He searched him and found a gum knife in his right hand pocket. Prisoner pulled his boot oft' and slung it at tbe constable’s head. He was veryjdrunk. Prisoner who said he bad only two drinks and a long beer and that did it, was fined £1 for the first offence, or one week’s imprisonment ; and on the second charge was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment.
