Tuesday, 6th June. (Before R. S. Bush, Esq., R M.) Nicholas Moros was charged with allowing his horse to wander on Hokianga road. Case adjourned to Monday, lltli iust. Matt in Dobrisli was charged with ha via g assaulted and beaten one Lovrich Kars ivich. Defendant, who was represented by Mr Me Leod, pleaded ‘ guilty under provocation.’ The evidence of several witnesses on both sides was given. The defendant was filled five shillings and costs, £6 Ids fid. CIVIL CASES. Alex Morton o. TI. DeGrantville , claim £7 18s fid. Judgment for plaintiff with costs 12s. Same v. 11. Beckett, claim £1 8s fid. No appearance of defendant. Judgment by default, costs 12s. Mr McLeod appeared for plaintiff. A. Baynes v. E. Hall, claim £3 10s. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. Mr E. C. Beale appeared for plaintiff. Hobson County Council v. F. W. Daw, 3/4; and W. Mcllwraith, 5s ; Judgment for plaintiffs in both cases with costs. J. A. Raymond v. J. Black, claim £55 13/6. Plaintiff non-suited. Mr Beale for plaintiff Mr McLeod for defendant. T. Tilton v. Northern Wairoa Racing Club, claim £9 10s, value of a totalisator ticket held by plaintiff on a winning hoi-se. Mr E. C. Beale for plaintiff and Mr McLeod for defence. Mr McLeod, at the outset, raised the question of jurisdiction, as the alleged transaction was a gambling one and therefore no valid claim could be made in respect of it. His Worship took time to consider the point. No evidence was taken. HOBSON COUNTY ELECTORAL ROLL. Applications were made to the Court by a number of persons who had recently acquired freehold lots in Dargaville to have their names entered on the roll of the riding in respects to their properties, and one. or two like applications were made from Okahu riding.
