DEATH OF HON. JOHN BALLANCE.

The honourable, the Premier, died at 6.19 p.m. yesterday evening. His age was 54 years and one month. It was thought a few weeks ago that the honourable gentleman would be able to meet Parliament with renewed strength, but later his condition again grew more serious ; he underwent an operation, after which he appeared to rally. On Thursday, however at 1.30 p.m. a change for the worse took place in bis condition. At 1.45 p.m. the doctors gave no hope, and at 3,30 p.m he became unconscious and it was evident he was fast sinking. The members of the Ministry and his relatives had been summoned and assembled at the Premier’s residence to await the end, which came as stated above.
