We have been compelled to omit leader, greater portion of latest telegrams, and other interesting items for lack of room. Advertisers and others will oblige by sending in their items before Friday if possible. Sir George Grey is 81 years of age to-day. A cricket match “ Married v. Single ”is to be played at Mangawhare tomorrow.
Mr F. Whitaker is a Vice-President of the Kopuru Football Club. His name was omitted by us in a previous paragraph. The Education Board has decided to send Mr A. J>. Judkins to the Dargaville school instead of Mr Gatenby. The Quarterly meeting ef the Northern Wairoa Agricultural and Pastoral Association is to be held at Mititai next Thursday, week, April 27th. The subject set down for discussion is the establishment of a butter factory in this district. Mr James Prince of Victoria Street East, Auckland, advertises in another column and we would like to draw special attention to it. Mr Prince has been in Auckland a number of years, and young people contemplating matrimony, or who wish to give presents to friends, and desire first class goods, canr.ot do better than select from Mr Prince’s well chosen stock. He personally superintends and eairies out nil repairs instructed to him which is a guarantee that the work will be well done. All members of the Rifle Club are requested to attend the meeting of the Club to be held in the Arafcapu Hall to-morrow evening, Mr Dargaville is to be in at-
tendance, and we believe it is bit ended to re-organise the Club ami put fresh life into it. liifles are to be re issued. Necs has been received by cable of the death' of Sir Edwin Dashwuo i, born in Nelson in October, 1554, and who lived in this district some years before succeeding to the title. The deceased was in this district a few months ago with his wife, formerly Miss Norton, daughter of Dr. Norton of Mangawhare. The Aratapu F. C. hold their first practice tomorrow afternoon in Mr Webb’s paddock. Before the game starts a Club Quarter Mile handicap is to be run. The following are the entries and handicaps in yards : —W.
