CRICKET.

TATAR ARIKI C.C. v. MANGAWHARE C.C. The whole day match between these two Clubs, on Good Friday, only added another to the wins of the Tatarariki Club, although owing to the working of the Kopuru mill their team was weakened. The day was a beautiful one for cricket and tho ground was in good order. The Mangawhare Club seems to have lost its cunning for with but few exceptions the batting was very indifferent. Harding play’ed carefully in the first innings but was run out when he had made 10. Dargaville 12, not out, was the only other double figure. Fitzpatrick was run oub also, but in thesecond innings he played a good game right through and carried his bat for 40 runs. In the bowling too this player secured 9 wickets for 27 runs so that he was a mighty power for his side. Brown was given l.b. w. in both innings. In the Tatarariki first innings Elliott 14. Webster 15, C. Matthews 14 and Rice 12 were the double figures aud the innings closed with a lead of 31 runs. There were only four extras all day. Although Fitzpatrick himself ran up 40, all his friends together only added another 14, and Tatarariki were only called upon for 24 to win. These Elliott determined to make himself if no one else would and when the stumps were drawn he had made 21 not out and the game was won by six runs and four wickets.
