The average duration of lives in the United States is 4 .1.8 for storekeepers, 43.5 years for teamsters, 44.6 years for seamen, 47.3 years for mechanics, 48,4 years for merchants 52 6 years for lawyers and 64.2 years for farmers. Kerosene has been tried in the United States for destroying mosquitoes, the old idea of keeping down their number by dragon flies having proved a failure. Four ounces of kerosene were poured on a breeding pool 60 square feet in area, and for the next ten days the pool, which had before swarmed with the insects, was cleared of them.
