There was a good attendance of brethren. The duties of Installing Master were veiy ably discharged by Bro. Powell, the retiring W.M. Bro. N. A. Brydon, the W.M., on behalf of the brethren, presented him with a Past Master’s jewel to mark their esteem and to show their appreciation of his two years’ work as Master. Bro. Powell, in thanking the brethren, stated that his best endeavours were still at the service of Lodge St. George, and he trusted, that under the new officers, it would become one of the foremost lodges in the colony, and be long and widely known for its masonic virtues

After the labours of the evening were ended the brethren adjourned to the diningroom of Bro. Raynes, and partook of the usual Masonic banquet. The jewel, which is from the studio of A. G. Bartlett, Queen-street, Auckland, was specially designed for Lodge St. Georg: sand is emblematic of the Lodge, the Craft, and the Colony. The badge is divided into two parts by a band of New Zealand ferns. The upper part bears a figure of St. George in the act of slaying the Dragon. The lower part bears a Maori whare, the gable of which forms the masonic square, while on the door of the hut is inscribed the diagram of Euclid’s 47th proposition, the distinguishing badge bf a Past Master. The whole is suspended from a ribbon with three clasps ■howingtthe name, number, and constitution of the lodge. The whole is of beautiful workmanship and is a credit to the artist who designed it.
