BAD FISH, M.H.R.
The Review of Reviews, referring to Mr Fish’s fierce denunciation of certain ladies who opposed sc successful}’ his election as Mayor of Dunedin, says—“ Oratory of this sort would in time make eiery self respecting woman flee polities as she would the plague- It would probably too, suggest to some exasperated husband or brother the duty of compelling the orator, by very energetic arguments, to be a little less tropical in his epithets ! The-opponents of Female Suffrage contend that women wifl make politics more shrewish and bitter tongued ; but what fish-wife could out scold this Dunedin termagant in breeches ?”
