PAPAROA.
[FROM OTJB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Another musical treat is in store for Paparoa and neighbourhood, resulting from the formation of a String Band in the district. We already boast an excellent Brass Band, and if the new organisation turns out as successful as the latter, we should, with two musical societies in the settlement, rest assured that the prospects of Paparoa for the future, in the musical line, are decidedly promising. Mr H. Nutsford is to be the conductor of the Paparoa String Band ; an outline of the members with their respective instruments, I hope to furnish you with shortly. The s.s. Ethel Is to run an excursion trip to tho Port Albert Industrial Exhibition and Flower Show, leaving Paparoa on the morning of tha Ist December, and returning the same night or next morning. The Exhibition Committee have engaged the local Brass Band for the occasion, and other visitors will probably take an opportunity of visiting Port Albert. The Pahi folks intend holding an Industrial and Horticultural Show on 11th January next. Exhibitions and Shows are apparently getting rather too thick. Maungaturoto is also holding a Show, in close pu-oximity to that of the North KaiparaSAgricultural Society here. It would I think have been better if the outlying districts, instead of starting small Shows on their own account, had combined and continued to support the central Show at Paparoa. It is to bo hoped that they will continue to do so, notwithstanding. The web weather has considerably interfered with the shearing operations. This Spring is certainly one of the wettest we have ever experienced here. The Rev. J. Walter preached in the Wesleyan church on Sunday last, Nov. 27th, to good congregations.
