INDEPENDENT ORDER OF REC HABITES.

The Annual meeting of the District Council of the above Order was held in Hobson’s rooms, Queen Street, Auckland on Tuesday, August 9th. Mr J' Danby, D.C.R. presided, the other officers present being Mr It. French, P. D. C. E. ; D. Sec., Mr J. G. Carr; D. Treas., Mr P. Crowe ; D. Guard, Mr G. W. Davidson. The various reports were read, and these showed the accummulated Tent funds to be £4,406 14s 2d and District funds £3,027 10s lOd, or a total of £7,434 os. The membership numbers 348 so that the funds average £2l 7s 3d per member. The Aratapn Tent showed the greatest increase of members for the year. The Trustees’ report showed that the Societies’ funds were well and safely invested, all securities being of full value and increasing. The Aratapu Tent invited the District to hold its next Feburary meeting in Aratapu and this the Council consented to do. A vote of thanks was passed to the Hope of Auckland Tent for its hospitality displayed in the entertainment of visitors. The election of officers for the new term resulted as follows:—D.C.R., Mr J. M. Barr (Onehunga) ; P.C.R., Mr J. Danby (Thames); D.D.11., Mr George Kent (Mayor of .Newmarket) : D. Sec., Mr J. G. Carr (Auckland); D, Treas., Mr P. Crowe (Auckland); D. Guard, Mr G. W. Davidson (Aratapu). Auditors, Messrs Knight and E. J. Carr.
