ROTUNDA RINK CRNIVAL.
The Fancy Dress Carnival hold in the Aratapu Rink last Wednesday week was fairly well attended by the public, but the fancy costumes were, as a whole, neither numerous nor of any great merit. The United Brass Band was in attendance and played several selections during the evening. Rinking was kept up till half past ten, after which dancing began and continued till midnight. There were no prizes offered and no special attractions in the way of racing and the like. Miss Morgan made a good Pear’s Soap matron, and Messrs A. Smith and T. Keane afforded a good laugh occasionally. The prettiest costume was that of little Miss Jones, ‘ Forget Me Not,’ whilst Miss E. Corkili, ‘ Shepherdess Miss E. Rhodes, ‘ Tambourine Girl Miss E. Morgan, ‘ Bride’; Miss E. Harrison, ‘Poppy’; Miss Rhodes, ‘Venetian Fish Girl’; and Mr Ah Sing, ‘Chinee,’ all looked very nice, We relieve it is the intention of Mr Jones to hold a Carnival on 3 larger scale and accompanied with all possible attractions at the close of the season.
