The recent heavy rains have caused general freshes in all the rivers and creeks connected with our river and a large number of logs have been floated down. Mr Harrison’s fleet of little steamers have all been kept busy this week securing the timber, a good deal of which floated below this settlement before being secured. New booms were recently placed across the Aratapu ereek at the back of Mr Barbour’s property and these now contain close on a thousand logs. Our river mills have now a good supply of logs and we hope returning prosperity may bring an increased demand for the same.
