AUCKLAND PROVINCIAL AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

...iimittee of ,j„ ..... . ultural Association, the much-vexed question of licensing stallions, which occupied the attention of the general meeting last week, again came up for discussion, and on the motion of Mr J. Phillips if was agreed, “That the Secretary be instructed to forward a copy of the resolution passed at the last general meeting of members re proposed stallion tax to the secretary of tne Canterbury Conference, also to each of the members of the House of Representatives for the Auckland provincial district, and to request them in case the recommendation of the Canterbury Conference should become law, that they' will endeavour to limit its application to such districts as may desire it.” The Committee of f the Association, being convinced that the interests of the farming community could be advanced if the farmers would combine, decided that an attempt should be made to consolidate tno kindred societies in the province. No detailed scheme has, as yet, been formulated, but a rule has been passed providing for the representation of the different societies by their presidents, vice-presidents, and secretaries. It would be the work of the Central Committee of such an organisation to undertake such duties as watching the interests of the different societies in the House of Representatives, supporting weak societies, gathering arid disseminating information useful to farmers, and generally advancing the agricultural interests by shows and other means. It was resolved that a conference of delegates from the various agricultural societies be held November, and that & CP py r of a circular embodying the above views of the Auckland Association be forwarded to all the societies of the province. The secretary was instructed fto communicate with the Acclimatisation Society with a view to the introduction of swallows, flycatchers, arid other insectivorous birds.
